Italy opens free digital help desks to aid seniors and residents with online safety and services

In Chiavari, Liguria, a free digital assistance desk was launched on July 16 as part of the “Ben…Essere in Liguria” senior subsidiarity pact. Run by the Assoutenti Liguria network and the consumer‑protection association ADOC, the desk offers tutoring for seniors and other citizens to recognise online scams, improve digital skills and safely use internet services. Sessions run until September and are scheduled on July 23, 28, 30 and early August.

A similar digital facilitation desk opened in Garbagnate Milanese, Lombardy, targeting residents over 16. The service provides free help with SPID activation, electronic identity cards, electronic health records, online administrative forms, and access to public‑sector portals. It also assists with job‑search platforms and the application for childcare vouchers. Appointments are required and the centre operates Monday‑Wednesday mornings, Thursday afternoons and Friday mornings.

Both initiatives aim to increase digital inclusion, prevent fraud and simplify access to public services for older adults and the broader community.
