Italian senior digital inclusion initiatives
Entities: Auser · Un Ponte tra Generazioni · ADOC · Comune di Garbagnate Milanese · Assoutenti Liguria
Overview
In late July 2026, Italy reported modest but growing uptake of digital services among its oldest citizens. Seniors over 80 in the Marche region began using Poste Italiane’s Super App, accounting for 2‑3 % of total users, while the Veneto province continued to fund the PALLADES facilitation service that helps seniors access online public‑administration and private‑sector services.
Within days, new free digital assistance desks were opened in Liguria’s Chiavari and Lombardy’s Garbagnate Milanese. The Ligurian desk focuses on tutoring seniors to recognise online scams and improve digital skills, while the Lombardy centre offers help with SPID activation, electronic IDs, health records and other public‑sector portals. Both aim to broaden digital inclusion, prevent fraud and simplify access to online services for older adults and the wider community.
