Italy organ donation drive expands with municipal registration and human‑chain awareness events

The municipality of Brembio has joined the national "Dai voce al tuo Sì. Scegli di donare" campaign promoted by the Ministry of Health and the National Transplant Center. When residents obtain or renew their electronic identity cards, registry officials ask whether they wish to record a statement of consent, refusal or no response regarding organ and tissue donation. The choice can be changed at any time, and the most recent declaration prevails.

In a separate initiative, AIDO and Aquafan organized a large human chain at the Aquafan water park in Riccione. Hundreds of participants formed the "Catena della Vita" to encourage people, especially young citizens, to say yes to organ donation. The event featured testimonies from transplant recipients and families, highlighted that about 8,000 Italians are on transplant waiting lists, and included the story of a Sammarinese mother whose daughter's donation saved seven lives.
