Italy prepares for 2026 Volleyball Nations League matches in Brazil and Canada
The Italian women’s volleyball team travelled to Brasilia for their Nations League 2026 group match against the host nation. The game takes place at the Palasport Nilson Nelson on 7 June, with Italy seeking a third consecutive win after 3‑0 victories over Hungary and the Netherlands and a 3‑1 win against Turkey. Brazil also enters the match unbeaten, having defeated the Netherlands, the Dominican Republic and Bulgaria in the opening round.
In parallel, the Italian men’s squad is training in Ottawa ahead of their tournament debut. Their first match is scheduled for 10 June at The Arena at TD Place against France. The roster features several young players, including setters Paolo Porro and Mattia Orioli, and middle blockers Pardo Mati and Giovanni Sanguinetti. Porro highlighted the importance of building team cohesion during the camp and expressed confidence in confronting the Olympic champions France.
Both Italian squads aim to build on early successes as the 2026 Volleyball Nations League progresses across its first weeks in South America and North America.
