Italy pushes active aging with health guidelines and city‑wide bone‑muscle campaign
World health authorities note that physical inactivity causes about 3.2 million deaths annually, and the WHO recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate activity each week plus two sessions of muscle‑strengthening exercises. In Italy, 39 % of the population is sedentary and more than four million people suffer from osteoporosis, a condition that often co‑exists with sarcopenia, the age‑related loss of muscle mass.
The "Dynamic Aging" approach promotes integrated bone‑muscle health. Italfarmaco’s "Non Romperle!" tour visited Torre del Greco on 22‑23 June, offering free specialist consultations in a motor‑home to raise awareness of osteoporosis and sarcopenia and to encourage active lifestyles, balanced nutrition, stress management and regular health check‑ups. These measures aim to extend not just lifespan but quality of life for Italy’s ageing population.
