Italy rail disruptions: Lazio regional lines and Bologna‑Milan high‑speed line work

From 6 to 23 August, regional rail services on Rome’s FL4 line (Roma–Albano Laziale/Frascati/Velletri) will be fully suspended and replaced by buses operating from the Anagnina hub, with no stops at Roma Termini. The FL6 line (Roma–Cassin o) will see a partial suspension: service between Rome and Colleferro ends on 6 August, resumes on 16 August in the afternoon, and a further interruption between Rome and Ciampino occurs from 17 August, with a dedicated Anagnina–Ciampino bus link. Intercity trains on several long‑distance routes will also face timetable changes and possible bus replacements. Bicycles, small pets and assistance dogs are allowed on the replacement buses under specific conditions.

Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) will carry out a major renewal of the high‑speed Bologna‑Milan line between Piacenza and Melegnano from 10 to 17 August, investing about €10 million. The works involve replacing six 140‑metre switches, renewing the track ballast and restoring geometry. To allow the works, AV trains will be diverted onto the conventional line between Piacenza and Milan during the period, with reduced speeds initially and a gradual return to normal service from 18 August onward.
