Italy recalls I Veneti and other salami over Salmonella and E. coli risk

The Italian Ministry of Health has ordered a precautionary recall of several salami products after detecting possible contamination with Salmonella spp. and Shiga toxin‑producing Escherichia coli (STEC). The recall covers the I Veneti “Salame nostrano” (lot 3366, 700 g pieces, best‑before 22 Mar 2027) produced by Sa. Ven Srl in Zanè, Vicenza, as well as Antica Corte Pallavicina Fratelli Spigaroli products such as Antico Spigaroli and Cresponetto (lot 280426A). Consumers are instructed not to eat the affected salami and to return the packages to the point of purchase for refund or disposal. The Ministry emphasizes that the recall aims to prevent gastrointestinal illnesses, which can include abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever, nausea and vomiting, especially in vulnerable groups.

Earlier in the year the Ministry issued other food‑safety alerts for cheeses, cured meats and salads, reinforcing the importance of rapid product withdrawals to protect public health.
