Italy repatriates two foreigners following assault on Milan rabbi

Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi announced the repatriation of two foreign nationals involved in the assault of the Chief Rabbi of the Via Soderini Synagogue in Milan. The incident occurred on September 16 at a bus stop in the Bande Nere area, where a group of three youths surrounded the 60-year-old rabbi.

The victim reported that the group mocked him and that he was kicked from behind, causing him to fall from the sidewalk toward the street. While the rabbi did not require hospitalization, he filed a formal complaint following the attack.

Walker Meghnagi, president of the Milan Jewish Community, described the repatriation as ‘beautiful news’ and a victory for democracy. He expressed hope that this approach would be applied to future acts of violence and called for the approval of anti-semitism legislation in the Chamber of Deputies.
