Italy reports 340,000 net job gains in March as INPS expands hiring contest

In March 2026 Italy's private‑sector labour market recorded a net increase of 340,000 positions, according to INPS data. The growth was driven primarily by permanent contracts (+278,000) and also saw rises in intermittent (+39,000), seasonal (+28,000) and temporary (+6,000) jobs, while apprenticeship contracts fell by 16,000.

Separately, the INPS public‑administration recruitment competition for 2026 was enlarged from 1,024 to 1,695 vacancies. The contest targets graduates in law, economics, humanities or engineering for permanent roles across the country, with salaries ranging from €28,000 to €32,000 gross annually. Applications close on 27 July 2026.

Both developments underscore a broader trend of expanding employment opportunities in Italy, spanning the private sector and the public administration.
