Italy reports over 520,000 minimally invasive cardiac procedures in 2025

Italy recorded over 520,000 minimally invasive cardiac procedures in 2025, according to data from the Italian Society of Interventional Cardiology. These procedures, conducted across 254 hemodynamics laboratories, included 318,121 coronary angiographies, 160,035 angioplasties, and 14,409 TAVI (aortic valve replacement) operations. The data aims to ensure clinical quality and adherence to European guidelines across the national healthcare network.

In the northern Naples region, health officials are addressing a high volume of cardiovascular issues, with over 3,000 hospitalizations annually for heart diseases, including 650 cases of acute myocardial infarction. The tenth edition of the ‘Il Cuore Nord di Napoli’ congress will convene in Pozzuoli to analyze emergency management networks, focusing on the coordination between primary care physicians, emergency services, and intensive cardiac care units.
