Italy reports two separate seismic events in Liguria and Calabria

Two separate seismic events were recorded in Italy on Monday, September 7.

A magnitude 2.9 earthquake occurred near Aprigliano in the Cosenza province at 15:47 local time. The epicenter was located approximately 7 kilometers east of Aprigliano at a depth of 16 kilometers. This event follows a stronger tremor in the Castiglione Cosentino area on September 4, though experts note that a direct correlation between the two cannot be confirmed without further analysis of seismic structures.

In a separate event, a magnitude 1.7 earthquake was recorded at 16:03 local time off the eastern coast of Liguria, near the province of Spezia. The epicenter was located at sea, at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers. Due to its low magnitude, the tremor was unlikely to be felt by the population and no damage or critical issues have been reported.
