Italy resumes plastic packaging collection and launches aluminum capsule recycling in Brianza

Aset Spa announced that the emergency affecting the national collection of plastic packaging has been resolved and the consortium has resumed withdrawals from processing plants, restoring continuity to the recycling system. The company emphasized the importance of ongoing monitoring to prevent future interruptions.

In the Brianza region, Gelsia Ambiente began accepting used aluminum coffee capsules in the yellow recycling bin across 27 municipalities. The initiative, developed with A2A Ambiente, the National Aluminum Packaging Consortium (CIAL) and Nespresso, uses an eddy‑current separator at the Muggiano plant to recover aluminum for endless reuse, aligning with the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation that will classify capsules as recyclable packaging from August 2026.
