Italy school staff leave entitlements under CCNL

Under the CCNL Istruzione e Ricerca 2019-2021, specific leave entitlements are established for school administrative, technical, and auxiliary (ATA) staff in Italy.

Permanent ATA staff are entitled to 18 hours of paid leave per school year for personal or family reasons. These hours are paid, do not reduce vacation time, and count toward seniority. If used for a full day, 6 hours are deducted from the total. Documentation can be provided via self-certification.

For staff on fixed-term contracts hired until August 31 or June 30, the contract recognizes 3 days of paid leave per school year for personal or family reasons. These days can also be taken in hourly increments, providing specific protections for temporary workers.
