Italian school staff leave entitlements

Overview

Specific leave entitlements have been established for school administrative, technical, and auxiliary (ATA) staff in Italy under the CCNL Istruzione e Ricerca 2019-2021 agreement.

Permanent ATA staff are granted 18 hours of paid leave per school year for personal or family reasons. These hours do not reduce vacation time and contribute toward seniority. When used for a full day, 6 hours are deducted from the total, and staff may provide documentation via self-certification.

Staff on fixed-term contracts hired by August 31 or June 30 are recognized with 3 days of paid leave per school year for personal or family reasons, which can also be utilized in hourly increments.
