Italy school staff to receive salary increases through 2027

Under the 2025/2027 national collective bargaining agreement (CCNL) for school staff in Italy, salary increases for teachers and administrative, technical, and auxiliary (ATA) personnel will be implemented in three annual tranches. These increments, effective from January 1, 2025, January 1, 2026, and January 1, 2027, include the IPCA anticipation already distributed.

Once fully implemented in January 2027, the average gross monthly increase for the entire sector will be 137 euros across 13 monthly payments. For teaching staff specifically, this translates to an average increase of 143 euros across 13 monthly payments.

Beyond direct salary adjustments, upcoming discussions starting in September will address regulatory aspects of the contract renewal. These include the potential introduction of meal vouchers for school staff—a benefit currently unavailable to this sector in the public administration—and the possibility of discounted rates for redeeming university degrees to boost overall purchasing power.
