Multiple fires break out across Italian towns and forests

Two arson incidents set fire to homes and businesses in Saline, a hamlet of Montebello Jonico in southern Italy. Local priest Don Giovanni Zampaglione urged the community to respond with prayer and solidarity, emphasizing that "evil will not have the final word."

In the province of Como, firefighters from three nearby stations extinguished a blaze that erupted in a cellar of a house in Mozzate. The fire damaged fabric samples for curtains but caused no injuries.

A night fire in the countryside of Manciano, near the Grosseto–Viterbo border, destroyed an agricultural press and burned about five hectares of straw and twenty bales of hay. Rapid action by the tractor driver and volunteer fire crews saved the tractor and prevented further spread. No one was hurt.

In Manfredonia, a Mediterranean scrub fire on Monte Aquilone consumed roughly 11 hectares of vegetation. Ground crews and a state‑owned Canadair aircraft were deployed, and several residents were temporarily evacuated before returning home.

One year after a devastating wildfire that razed the Nicotera Marina pine forest, former councilor Antonio D’Agostino criticized the lack of preventive work, saying no dead wood has been cleared and no thinning performed, leaving the area vulnerable to future fires.
