Italy sees donation milestones in Caltagirone hospice and Borghetto blood drive

The Hospice “Giambattista Fanales” in Caltagirone performed three cornea extractions, bringing the total number of cornea donations since the program began to over 200. The procedures were coordinated by the Asp of Catania, with medical director Vincenzo Fisichella and coordinator Dora Mazzarino overseeing the work. The harvested corneas were sent to the Fondazione Banca degli Occhi del Veneto for evaluation and possible transplantation.

In Borghetto Santo Spirito, the AVIS Loano association organized the “Tuffati a Donare 2026” blood‑drive, attracting many local residents and tourists. Celebrity Nikita Perrotti, winner of the 2025 edition of *Ballando con le Stelle*, participated personally, helping to promote the campaign’s message that each blood bag can save lives.
