Italy sees protests over cost of living and political identity

In Italy, various political and social movements are mobilizing against different issues. The Unione Sindacale di Base (USB) has called for a general strike on October 30, targeting the rising cost of living, stagnant wages, and military spending. Activist Greta Thunberg has supported this call, linking the struggle for climate action with labor rights and opposition to the conflict in Gaza.

Meanwhile, in Pontedera, the local branch of Anpi (National Association of Italian Partisans) has issued a formal condemnation of a planned ‘identity walk’ by the Futuro Nazionale movement. Anpi president Alberto Tardini stated that the movement’s ideological premises, including concepts like ‘remigration,’ contradict the anti-fascist principles of the Italian Constitution. The association expressed strong opposition to the event, which includes figures such as Edoardo Ziello and is associated with Roberto Vannacci.
