Fuel Prices Fall in Italy, Moldova and the Netherlands

On 7 August 2026 Italy recorded a third consecutive day of falling pump prices. The average self‑service gasoline price fell to €1.990 per litre and diesel to €2.085 per litre, with Tamoil cutting its recommended diesel price by one cent. In the Netherlands, consumer‑price monitoring data showed Euro 95 gasoline slipping to €2.575 per litre and diesel to €2.593 per litre, a movement linked to optimism about the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. In Moldova, the national energy regulator ANRE set new maximum retail prices for 8‑10 August: gasoline at 30.05 lei per litre and diesel at 32.20 lei, reflecting a 15 % drop in Brent and an 11‑12 % fall in Platts product quotes. The Italian government also extended a 17‑cent‑per‑litre diesel tax cut and the associated tax‑credit scheme until 24 August, adding €42.1 million to the credit fund to support transport firms.
