Italy sees volunteer cleanups and education drives on World Environment Day

On World Environment Day, volunteers and municipal agencies carried out clean‑up operations in Rome and its coastal district of Ostia. Participants from Acea, the city of Rome, Ama and Plastic Free collected litter from public squares, parks and beaches, and held a briefing on circular‑economy practices.

In Terni, the utility Asm Terni hosted schoolchildren at the Cesvol after‑school program, using a virtual‑reality tour called Waste Travel 360° to demonstrate waste sorting, recycling and the reuse of electronic equipment. The event highlighted the importance of differentiated collection and announced a forthcoming anti‑littering campaign with the municipality.
