Italy sees wealth stagnation as global wealth surges in 2025

The UBS Global Wealth Report shows that global personal wealth grew by 10.8% in 2025, the fastest pace since 2017 and the third consecutive year of expansion. Growth was strongest in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (+17.5%), followed by the Americas (+8.5%) and Asia‑Pacific (+5.9%). The United States alone accounted for almost half of the roughly one million new dollar‑millionaires, adding about 440,000 high‑net‑worth individuals.

In Italy, however, average wealth per adult remained flat after a decade of stagnation, while median wealth rose modestly by 3.3%. The number of Italian millionaires increased by 2.4% – about 28,600 people – bringing the total to 1.235 million. Roughly half of Italian adults hold net assets between $100,000 and $1 million, and the top 2.5% own nearly 30% of the nation’s wealth. Financial assets make up just over half of Italy’s total personal wealth, and household debt stays below 9%.
