Italy Senate reviews gender balance legislation for public and corporate appointments
The Italian Senate is addressing legislative efforts to promote gender balance within independent authorities, government advisory committees, and both public and listed companies. Senate Bill A.S. n. 88/2026 seeks to establish norms for gender equality in these appointments, building upon previous legislative attempts that stalled in prior terms.
In conjunction with these legislative discussions, UN Women Italy is organizing a conference titled ‘From Formal Equality to Substantive Equality’ at the Senate. The event, initiated by Vice President Anna Rossomando, features academic and institutional speakers, including constitutional law professor Marilisa D’Amico, to discuss the challenges of achieving effective rights and equality 80 years after the Constituent Assembly.
