Italy sets all-time medal record at Mediterranean Games
Italy has set a new all-time medal record at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, surpassing the previous record established in Bari in 1997. The Italian team secured over 200 medals, approximately 30 more than the 1997 performance. A single-day record was also achieved with 36 podium finishes.
Turkey finished in second place with 104 medals, followed by Greece with 71. Carlo Mornati, Secretary General of CONI, noted that the achievement reflects a sustained period of success for Italian sports following recent results in European and World championships, highlighting the depth of the national sporting movement.
