Italy suspends water supply in Viterbo and Apulia for network upgrades

On 5 June 2026, temporary water service interruptions were scheduled in Viterbo, Italy, affecting Via Santa Maria dell’Elce and Via della Mattonara while a pressure‑regulating valve is replaced as part of a national recovery‑plan water‑network modernization project.

A separate outage is planned for 10 June 2026 in the Apulia towns of Conversano and Polignano a Mare. The eight‑hour suspension will run from 09:00 to 17:00 to allow maintenance of pipelines and flow‑control equipment under the Acquedotto Pugliese “Interventi mirati” programme, which also aims to improve pressure control and hydraulic monitoring.

Both works are financed by the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and are intended to reduce water losses, improve monitoring and optimise distribution. Residents in the affected areas have been advised to ration water use during the interruptions and to expect possible pressure drops or temporary turbidity when service resumes.
