Italy television transition: options for the DVB-T2 switch-off

Italy is undergoing a transition in television broadcasting due to the switch-off of older digital terrestrial standards. The migration to the new DVB-T2 HEVC Main10 technical standard began officially on August 28, 2024, following Rai's conversion of its Mux B multiplex. This change has caused some older televisions to struggle with signal reception.

To maintain access to television services, viewers have several options beyond purchasing a traditional external decoder. These include using smart TVs with integrated DVB-T2 decoders, utilizing streaming services, or employing external streaming devices.

As an alternative to digital terrestrial, the TivùSat satellite platform offers a solution with signal availability across the country. The platform provides access to nearly 900 channels, including high-definition (HD) and high-dynamic-range (HDR) broadcasts from major networks such as Rai, Mediaset, and various international news and entertainment outlets.
