Following the transition to the DVB-T2 HEVC Main10 standard in August 2024, Italy’s digital terrestrial television platform has entered a phase of significant reorganization. To avoid “no signal” messages and restore the correct order, viewers are advised to perform a full automatic channel re-tuning (risintonizzazione).

By late September 2026, updates to HbbTV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV) applications further necessitated new automatic channel searches for users with internet-connected devices. These updates enhance hybrid services that merge traditional frequencies with streaming content. Broadcasters are leveraging these technologies to expand on-demand and specialized access: Rai provides services via RaiPlay, including Rai Sport Play and Rai TV+ (offering Rai 4K); Mediaset utilizes MediasetPlay for on-demand content and targeted advertising; and La7 offers specialized applications through La7Cinema. These HbbTV updates affect both digital terrestrial and satellite services.
