Italy to add 98 high‑power EV charging stations on highways by 2027

The Italian Sustainable Energy Authority (GSE) has published detailed guidelines for monitoring, reporting and disbursement of capital contributions under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) to support the development of electric‑vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The document outlines procedures for tracking project progress, financial spending, and requesting advance or final payments, integrating existing Ministry of Environment instructions.

Operator Ewiva has secured three lots in the Autostrade per l’Italia (ASPI) tender and will build 18 new ultra‑fast charging stations along major Italian motorways. The rollout will install a total of 98 high‑power (300 kW) charging points, equipped with photovoltaic canopies, on‑site energy storage, LED availability indicators, surveillance, and smart lighting. The stations will support contactless payments, Plug‑&‑Charge and 24/7 assistance, aiming to improve long‑distance travel for EV users across the north, centre and south of Italy by 2027.
