Italy to announce rates for new BTP Valore retail bonds
Italy’s Ministry of Economy and Finance is set to announce guaranteed minimum interest rates on Friday, October 16, for its upcoming retail government bond issuance. The offering features two distinct instruments designed for domestic savers, both with a five-year maturity.
The first is the traditional BTP Valore, which provides quarterly increasing coupons through a step-up mechanism. The second is a new instrument called ‘BTP Valore Insieme,’ which features a single cumulative coupon paid in full at maturity alongside the principal. While the payout structures differ, the Ministry has stated that the yields are intended to be financially equivalent.
Both bonds will be available at par with a minimum investment of 1,000 euros. Unlike previous iterations, these new instruments will not include a loyalty bonus for investors who hold the securities until maturity. The final interest rates may be adjusted upward at the time of closing depending on prevailing market conditions.
