Italy train strikes and ticket price protest scheduled for July 2026

A series of railway strikes are planned across Italy in July 2026. The first action, called by USB Lavoro Privato, will affect Mercitalia Shunting & Terminal staff on 6‑7 July with a 24‑hour nationwide stop. A separate regional strike by RFI staff in Palermo is set for 7 July, lasting eight hours. Further disruptions include an Italo NTV crew strike on 9‑10 July, lasting 23 hours, and a local RFI maintenance protest in Verona on 19‑20 July.

Separately, commuter groups in the Campania region have protested a regional decision to index local public‑transport ticket prices to inflation. The committees argue that raising fares while service quality remains poor will push users back to private cars, worsening traffic and pollution. They are calling on the regional government to halt the price adjustment and restore a low‑cost, unified ticket system.
