Italy transport sector faces Genoa transit strike and logistics summit
In Italy, the transportation sector is facing both industrial action and strategic planning. In Genoa, a 24-hour strike has been proclaimed by the CUB union against AMT, the local public transport provider. The union cites chronic staff shortages, deteriorating work shifts, poor vehicle maintenance, and driver assaults as primary reasons for the mobilization. While certain time slots are guaranteed for urban and provincial services, commuters may experience significant disruptions.
Separately, Confartigianato Trasporti is organizing its 2026 National Assembly in Rome. Titled ‘Driving Change: The Future of Road Haulage,’ the event aims to bring together institutions and industry operators to discuss the future of freight transport and logistics. Key topics include the impact of recent legislation, innovation, competitiveness, and the evolving needs of the national logistics supply chain.
