Italy: Two men returned to prison for violating judicial orders

Two separate incidents in Italy have resulted in individuals being returned to prison following violations of judicial restrictions.

In Sortino, a 51-year-old man was arrested by the Carabinieri after repeatedly violating obligations imposed by the judiciary. Following investigations by the Carabinieri and a subsequent order from the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Syracuse, the man, who has prior criminal records for crimes against persons and property, was ordered to serve a remaining sentence of one month at the Cavadonna Prison in Syracuse.

In Scandiano, a 30-year-old man from the province of Verona was arrested after his house arrest arrangement was revoked. The man had been serving a sentence for property crimes, including a theft at a medical clinic in San Bonifacio, at his uncle's home. However, the Magistrate of Surveillance of Reggio Emilia suspended the alternative measure following reports from the uncle regarding violent behavior, property damage, and suspected drug use. The individual has been transferred to prison, with the case referred to the Surveillance Court of Bologna.
