Criminal arrests and judicial violations in Italy

Italian law enforcement has conducted several arrests involving individuals who violated judicial orders or evaded detention. In late August, police arrested a 39-year-old fugitive in Catania who had been evading a sentence for attempted robbery. Additionally, a 60-year-old man in Ancona was transferred to prison after violating court-ordered restrictions intended to prevent him from contacting his mother.

By early September, further arrests occurred due to judicial violations. In Sortino, a 51-year-old man with prior criminal records was ordered to serve a month in prison following repeated violations of judicial obligations. In Scandiano, a 30-year-old man’s house arrest was revoked by a magistrate following reports of violent behavior, property damage, and suspected drug use while serving a sentence for property crimes.

Recent developments include the arrest of a 50-year-old man in Ancona who had been evading house arrest since August 19; he was located by the Carabinieri at the Torrette Hospital emergency room. Following this, the Surveillance Court of Ancona revoked his house arrest and ordered his return to custody. In Scandiano, the 30-year-old man was sent back to prison after the Surveillance Magistrate of Reggio Emilia determined his house arrest arrangement had become untenable due to physical and verbal violence directed at his host.

On September 5, authorities in Pisa arrested two brothers following a confrontation with police in a short-term rental, seizing a machete and a Beretta PX4 pistol with a filed-off serial number. In Reggio Emilia, a 21-year-old Egyptian national linked to a ‘scooter gang’ was expelled and repatriated to Cairo following involvement in multiple robberies and thefts. In Modena, a 33-year-old man was arrested for attempting to extort money from an elderly woman using death threats.
