Italy two-wheel market sees scooter growth in August 2026
The Italian two-wheel vehicle market showed divergent trends in August 2026. Total registrations reached 17,038 units, a 5.28% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth was driven almost entirely by scooters, which saw a 9.92% increase with 10,272 units sold.
In contrast, motorcycle sales experienced their second consecutive month of decline, falling by 3.9% to 5,818 registrations. Mariano Roman, president of ANCMA, noted that the market is seeing a clearer distinction in identity: scooters are being utilized for practical and functional mobility needs, while motorcycles remain driven by emotional factors.
Despite the decline in motorcycle sales, Roman expressed a calm outlook for the coming months, suggesting that current fluctuations are physiological rather than structural, provided economic indicators remain stable.
