Italy updates NASpI unemployment benefit rules and payments for 2026

The INPS unemployment benefit (NASpI) in Italy has been revised for 2026. Eligibility remains limited to employees who lose their job involuntarily and have at least 13 weeks of contributions in the previous four years. The benefit is paid monthly at 75 % of the average salary of the last four years, up to a maximum gross amount of about €1,584.70. A reference salary threshold of €1,456.72 is used to calculate the allowance for higher earners.

The maximum duration is 24 months, and the amount is reduced by 3 % each month after the 151st day (or after the 211th day for workers aged 55 or older). Applications must be submitted within 68 days of job loss via the INPS portal using SPID, CIE or CNS credentials. Payment dates vary by territorial office; for July 2026 the first disbursements are expected between 9 and 15 July, with later payments possible in the second half of the month.
