Italy updates social welfare and banking access rules
In Italy, new guidelines and social measures are impacting financial accessibility based on ISEE economic indicators.
An INPS caregiver bonus provides up to 400 euros to eligible individuals. Access to this support is contingent upon specific ISEE requirements and must be requested through the official INPS platform within designated timeframes.
Separately, the Bank of Italy has issued supervisory guidelines regarding basic bank accounts. Residents with an ISEE below 11,600 euros are entitled to basic accounts without fees or stamp duty. The central bank has instructed banks and payment service providers, such as Poste Italiane, to proactively offer these accounts to eligible customers rather than waiting for explicit requests. This move aims to eliminate commercial, organizational, and technological barriers that have previously hindered access to these essential financial services.
