Italy upgrades water supply in Gravina and launches first district‑wide spring monitoring network

Acquedotto Pugliese will carry out maintenance on the water distribution network in Gravina, Puglia, requiring a temporary shutdown of the tap water supply for five hours on 23 June 2026. Residents on several streets will experience a dry tap from 09:00 to 14:00, and the company advises limiting non‑essential water use during the interruption.

Separately, the District Authority of the Southern Apennines, together with the University of Bologna, is establishing Italy’s first comprehensive monitoring system for drinking‑water springs across the district. Led by Professor Alessandro Gargini, the project will continuously track the flow and quality of roughly 191 water bodies over an area of about 68,000 km², aiming to address climate‑related changes, improve groundwater data, and support sustainable water management.
