Italy faces unseasonable heat as subtropical high pressure arrives

Italy is experiencing an unseasonable heatwave as a subtropical high-pressure system settles over the region. Meteorologists report that this atmospheric block will bring stable weather and temperatures significantly above seasonal averages through the end of September and into early October.

In several areas, temperatures are expected to reach up to 31°C. Notable peaks are anticipated in Sardinia, where internal western areas could see temperatures hit 32°C, and in Oristano. Other cities like Rome, Florence, and Aosta are also expected to see temperatures well above the norm.

While most of the country will enjoy sunny and mild conditions, some localized instability remains. Minor rainfall may occur in parts of Sicily and Calabria before the high-pressure system fully consolidates. The current warm spell is expected to persist until at least October 1st, after which a new Atlantic disturbance may bring increased instability and cooler weather.
