Italy weather shifts as Azores High brings relief from heat

Italy is experiencing a significant shift in weather patterns as the prolonged subtropical heatwave concludes. The arrival of the Azores High Pressure system is expected to bring stable, temperate conditions and seasonal temperatures across the peninsula. By the weekend, temperatures are forecast to remain below 30°C, providing relief from previous extreme heat.

However, this period of stability may be brief. While the Azores High will offer clear skies and pleasant weather through the early part of next week, meteorological models indicate a new disturbance from Northern Europe could arrive around September 16, potentially bringing rain and further changes to the weather scenario.

Recent severe weather has already impacted various regions. Heavy rainfall and storms caused flooding and required numerous emergency interventions in areas such as Friuli Venezia Giulia, Marche, and Tuscany. In Friuli, over 120 emergency operations were conducted to manage flooding in Lignano and Latisana. Additionally, the inclement weather caused telecommunications disruptions in the Northeast, requiring technical repairs by FiberCop.
