Italy women's basketball wins two friendlies against France

The Italian women's national basketball team secured victories in two friendly matches against France held at the INSEP training center near Paris. These scrimmages serve as final preparations for the upcoming FIBA Women's World Cup in Berlin, which begins on September 4.

In the first encounter, Italy defeated France 48-45, led by Mariella Santucci's 10 points. The second match saw a higher-scoring contest where Italy overcame a 10-point deficit in the second half to win 75-72. Costanza Verona led the Italian scoring in the second game with 13 points, supported by Matilde Villa with 12 and Lorela Cubaj with 10.

The French team utilized players returning from the WNBA to bolster their roster. Following these tests, the Italian squad will reunite with Cecilia Zandalasini in Rome before traveling to Berlin. Italy's World Cup schedule includes opening matches against the Czech Republic, followed by games against the United States and China.
