Italy dominates volleyball in VNL and European youth championships

Italy’s men’s national team capped its Volleyball Nations League inter‑continental phase in Osaka with a 3‑2 win over China, securing second place in the overall standings before heading to the finals in Macau. The women’s squad, coached by Julio Velasco, also triumphed in Hong Kong, beating China 3‑2 to finish second in the VNL pool.

Italian youth teams swept European titles: the Under‑22 women’s side won the championship in The Hague, defeating Serbia 3‑1, while the Under‑18 women’s team captured gold in Riga with a 3‑0 victory over Turkey. The Under‑18 men’s team clinched a 3‑0 win against Iceland, and the Under‑22 women’s opposite hitter Teresa Maria Bosso helped secure the Under‑22 gold in The Hague. Additionally, Italy’s Under‑22 and Under‑18 women’s squads each earned European gold, reinforcing Italy’s status as a powerhouse across all age groups.

These successes highlight Italy’s depth in both senior and junior volleyball, combining strong performances on the world stage with a wave of continental triumphs for its younger athletes.
