Italy‑France Fashion Pact Aims to Secure Supply Chains and Curb Ultra‑Fast Fashion

Italian and French ministers Adolfo Urso and Sébastien Martin chaired a bilateral fashion summit in Rome, part of the broader “Tavolo della moda” at the Ministry of Economic Development. Trade unions representing the sector welcomed the proposals but warned that legal safeguards are needed, citing a pending amendment to Italy’s anti‑mafia code and calling for stronger inspections and funding for social safety nets.

CNA Federmoda highlighted the importance of protecting small and medium‑size enterprises that hold the technical know‑how of Italian fashion. The organization urged the creation of a Europe‑wide supply‑chain pact, alignment of audit procedures, and equitable value distribution to counter the impact of ultra‑fast‑fashion brands. Discussions also covered the Italy‑Fashion Plan, design tax credits, digital and environmental transition, and measures to preserve manufacturing skills.

Both parties stressed that a transparent, legally sound, and financially supported fashion ecosystem is essential for safeguarding Made‑in‑Italy production and employment across the sector.
