2026 Wine Harvests Accelerated by Record Heat Across Italy and Champagne
Unusually high summer temperatures and drought have forced an early start to the 2026 grape harvest across major Italian wine regions and France’s Champagne. In Lombardy’s Oltrepo Pavese the harvest began in late July – the first July picking on record – and in Franciacorta the vines were harvested on 30 July, also a historic first.
