Italy's Avis launches national blood‑donation campaign in Rome

Avis Italy began a nationwide blood‑donation drive on 22 July, unveiling the "La gratuità ha il nostro volto" campaign from Rome. The initiative highlights free blood and plasma donation, targets young donors—who make up about a third of the association’s 350 000 members—and coordinated a simultaneous online flash‑mob across all Avis locations. President Oscar Bianchi said the campaign aims to reinforce confidence in the transfusion system and encourage ongoing participation.

In the same week, the Italian Red Cross held a local blood‑collection event on 26 July in Cecchina (Via Nettunense 37). Donors must book slots online, with early‑morning times recommended for first‑time donors. A temporary parking ban was imposed near the venue to facilitate the drive. Both efforts seek to increase voluntary donations and support patients in need.
