Italy's Calabria near exit from health deficit plan as Sicily stays in

Agenas director Natalia Di Vivo told the Chamber's Social Affairs Committee that Calabria, which has been under the health deficit recovery plan since 2009 and was placed under a commissioner, "si profila un’uscita dal Piano" – it is likely to leave the scheme soon. By contrast, Sicily remains one of the four regions still subject to the plan, with Di Vivo noting it "non ha registrato negli anni miglioramenti" and is awaiting final approval of its operational program.

The plan, mandatory for regions whose health spending exceeds a 5 % deficit, also includes Lazio, Abruzzo and Molise, which similarly have not shown improvement. Regions such as Liguria, Campania (after a court ruling) and Sardinia have already exited the procedure.
