Italy's Calenda and Falasca launch new Europeist political platform
On 15 June 2026, Carlo Calenda and co‑founder Piercamillo Falasca announced the creation of the Europeisti.eu platform at the Teatro Parenti in Milan. The movement seeks to break Italy’s traditional bipolar political system by forming a centrist, pro‑European pole that would unite forces ranging from Forza Italia to a re‑formed Democratic Party.
Calenda described Europeisti.eu as “a house for Europeanists… a reformist pole that will not present itself as right or left.” The launch featured speakers such as Pina Picierno, economist Carlo Cottarelli, and former Prime Minister Mario Monti, all pledging support for a strong EU, defence cooperation and resistance to pro‑Russian influences.
The platform aims to influence the 2027 general elections, promoting a coalition that keeps anti‑Euro and pro‑Russian parties out of government and encouraging collaboration among liberal, popular and socialist forces at the European level.
