Carabinieri celebrate 212th anniversary and oath ceremony in Italy

In Cagliari, Sardinia, the Carabinieri marked their 212th anniversary with a ceremony at the Zuddas barracks. Regional Council President Piero Comandini highlighted the force's long service, praised their role from wartime interventions to everyday assistance, and presented a merit honor to Bitti officers Giovanni De Silva and Lucio Berardesca for rescuing three children and their father from drowning in 2004.

Later, in Reggio Calabria, recruit Nicholas Castello took his oath of loyalty to the Republic on 5 June, the National Carabinieri Day. The solemn event, held at the Arena dello Stretto, was attended by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, and marked Castello as the first Carabinieri trainee from the Cilento area to graduate.

Both ceremonies underscored the Carabinieri’s institutional presence and community ties across Italy.
