Italy's Civil Protection runs multi‑province drill and youth training program
The Civil Protection of Italy coordinated a three‑day multi‑scenario exercise from July 17‑19 across the provinces of Como, Lecco and Sondrio. More than 250 volunteers, local authorities and emergency services took part in five simulated emergencies, including floods, forest fires, search for missing persons and protection of cultural heritage. The drills involved water‑borne transport, drone monitoring and medical support, testing response plans in towns such as Gera Lario, Como, Mariano Comense and others.
Separately, the Civil Protection organized a week‑long training camp for fifteen young participants in Fiumicone. The program combined theoretical lessons with practical exercises on first aid, fire fighting, flood response and earthquake procedures. Participants visited the regional Civil Protection centre, the 112 emergency command centre and the local police station, gaining hands‑on experience of emergency logistics and coordination.
