Italy's government and regions push Electrolux to withdraw closure plan

Minister Adolfo Urso, together with regional presidents and officials from Marche, Emilia‑Romagna, Veneto, Friuli‑Venezia Giulia and Lombardy, condemned Electrolux's proposed shutdown of the Cerreto D'Esi plant, which would affect 170 workers. The government demanded an immediate withdrawal of the plan and called for a new industrial strategy that safeguards jobs, production and supply‑chain competitiveness.

Regional leaders of Confindustria also stressed that the Electrolux dispute is a European industrial issue, not limited to individual sites. They agreed to present a coordinated position at the MIMIT meeting on 25 May, emphasizing the defence of manufacturing competitiveness, employment and the broader European industrial ecosystem.
