INPS simplifies newborn bonuses and outlines pension supplement rules
The Italian social‑security agency (INPS) has launched a new online portal that makes it easier for families to claim the newborn and baby bonuses. Requests can be made through the portal using SPID or an electronic ID, with clearer information and streamlined procedures.
Pensioners who keep working can apply for a supplemental increase to their pension. Depending on the pension scheme, the waiting period before filing is two years for eligible cases (e.g., those who have already reached retirement age) or five years for others. Applications are submitted online via the INPS website and are processed without the need for additional documents.
INPS and the Revenue Agency are also conducting a roadshow across Italian regions, including events for businesses and universities, to inform citizens about tax, pension and digital services. The family portal now offers personalized cards, integrated bonuses and simulators for the universal child allowance, which in the first five months of 2026 paid out over 325,000 families, with Calabria recording the highest average per‑child amount.
