Italy's local radio and TV mark 50 years with commemorative stamp

Italy marked the 50th anniversary of its local radio and television sector with a commemorative postage stamp. The stamp, featuring a circular design with an antenna radiating waves and the number 50, was unveiled by Industry Minister Adolfo Urso at the RadioTv Forum 2026 in Rome. The celebration references the 1976 Constitutional Court decision that ended the state monopoly on local broadcasting, fostering pluralism and community‑based media.

Aeranti‑Corallo, the industry association, used the forum to outline future digital transitions, urging the shift of local TV to DVB‑T2 and the rollout of DAB+ networks for radio with regionalized content and advertising. The association highlighted the sector’s role in democracy, employing around 2,000 journalists, and called for stable public contributions and a constructive renewal of the national collective bargaining agreement.
